I just discovered Ellen McFadden‘s huge collection of historical graphic design images on Flickr. Not only is there a lot to look at, but most of them are available in high resolution. Also, she adds very interesting and enlightening commentary on each of them that is worth reading as you browse. The two above images [...]

I’m not sure exactly what Official Classic is, but I do know that it is a bundle of awesome design work. I love the classic feel of the work, it just makes me a happier person when I see it. I enjoyed all the work there, but I thought the font designs were displayed in [...]

Jane McDevitt of Maraid Design just uploaded a set of old British wresting posters. I love studying old wresting and boxing posters because of how, um… enthusiastic the designers were about typography. Most turn out to be lovably ugly, but occasionally it works in an odd way, like in the example above. Either way, it’s [...]

I was struck by this minimally designed Beach Boys button for some reason. There’s an odd to beauty to it’s purity that I think relates to the way I feel about the music of that time. I found this while poking around through Peter Denton’s nostalgia collection on Flickr.

I’m really loving the vintage graphic style that Jordan Gray has going on. He uses type and colors really nicely in my opinion, and it was hard to pick one image to post (so you get three). I can’t believe that a lot of my favorites are versions that didn’t get used by the client, [...]

I love this little gallery of vintage looking hand made flea circuses. It makes me want one just to have as decoration in my house. The photos have that nice vintage coloring to them as well, I just wish they were bigger. Via Clusterflock

Designer Kent Henderson had insomnia one night and decided to scan in this wonderful book entitled Examples of Modern Alphabets, Ornamental and Plain from 1864! This is a really fun gallery to click through for anyone interested in vintage woodblock typography or even book design. The amount of detail in the letters is amazing, end [...]

Michael Jack is a huge collector of transistor radios. I especially love how he has put together a photo set of vintage transistor radio graphic designs. He shows off some nice boxes, manuals, and even the dials on the radios. If you love vintage machinery, check out the hundreds of high quality photos of the [...]

I’m not exactly sure what the Golden Porsche Sessions designs are all about, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy looking at them. I love the way lomo photography is combined with modernist inspired typography to create fantastic vintage designs.

Photographer Grant Hamilton takes a variety of nice photos, but the ones that really caught my eye were the Polaroid shots of found retro stripes. You can buy large prints of some of these at his etsy shop. They would also make great color scheme inspiration for any retro inspired design.
