Typographic autumn foods canvas bag

I’m so excited for my favorite season of the year, and this reusable canvas bag featuring a typographic design of autumn foods got me even more in the mood. It was designed by Shaz Madani (click on “Taste the Seasons to see more) and the idea was to encourage grocery shoppers to buy foods that [...]

Partners for Change poster series by Max Erdenberger

Max Erdengerger has designed a really nice looking set of posters to promote environmentalism. The profit he makes from selling the posters will be used in some way to offset the carbon emissions from resulting from moving his family across the country. I love the simple compositions and the graphic illustration style. You can buy [...]

Wall-E toy photo by Chris Glass, or, my new desktop wallpaper

Chris Glass took this beautiful photo of a Wall-E toy holding a real plant. It almost brings to life this character from the amazing movie. It also makes a great desktop wallpaper in the original size. I love the title and caption he gave the photo, “Where I forget about landfills and buy the toy [...]

Creative designs by Anita J

I love these designs made by Flickr user “Anita J+”. She used books to form the shapes of trees and flowers for these environmental awareness posters. The rest of her stuff is top notch as well, although I can’t find an official website besides her Flickr account.

Bamboo toy design workshop

15 students from Shankar college in Israel traveled to China to participate in a workshop for designing bamboo toys. The toys are really cute, and of course, bamboo is super sustainable. I love the way the simple bright colors look with the light brown color of the bamboo.

Sleeping Forest Studios – Beautiful wood designs (marquetry)

I saw this amazing wood business card holder on Etsy and I fell in love with it. I am a sucker for nicely presented woodgrain. I had just expected it to be painted on with wood stain, but the design turned out to be made from inlaid pieces of wood. I looked at their other [...]

Earth Day poster series – Fair Trade?

I recently designed a 3 part poster series for earth day. The idea is to get people to think about the things they take from nature and the things they put into it and decide if they are “trading fairly” with nature. It was made by taking my illustrations and printing them out, then putting [...]

Sustainability “nutrition” labels for houses

I love the creative solution for publishing the sustainability facts for this house design. The nutrition label layout makes the figures much more “digestible” (sorry, that pun wasn’t planned, I swear). It might get more people to think that they should treat house shopping in a similar way to food shopping. When most people pick [...]

Seven-nine – Wood + art = nice.

Seven-nine is a small collection of one person’s paintings and prints that seems to mostly be either about trees and wood, or actually made on wood. I really love wood grain, and it’s nice to see paintings that embrace it.

Boulder, Colorado to be the first “Smart Grid City”

(click the image for bigger view) Exel Energy announced that it would make Boulder, CO the first “Smart Grid City”. Which basically means they are creating some sort of energy program that is self aware and able to make itself more reliant, efficient, and greener. There’s a video on that page that explains it in [...]
