I like this type quote design by designer Narani. It’s a very nice looking style, and the quote is pretty interesting. Apparently the quote is by Mac Baumwell, as I found in this great list of type quotes from Typophile’s forum.

These watercolor based graphics by Karen Kurycki made me smile instantly. I love the way she uses loosely dropped watercolor to give it some organic texture, but the careful layouts of the paint keep the designs graphic in nature. Of course the wit helps with the smile factor. There’s a definite DADA influence on some [...]

I’m enamored with this proposed poster design for a film festival done by Horatio Lorente. I like it even better than the version that got printed, but the printed version is pretty good as well. Check out more of his design work in his Flickr set (I personally prefer that to navigating his flashy portfolio [...]

I’m so excited for my favorite season of the year, and this reusable canvas bag featuring a typographic design of autumn foods got me even more in the mood. It was designed by Shaz Madani (click on “Taste the Seasons to see more) and the idea was to encourage grocery shoppers to buy foods that [...]

Illustrator Sarah Watts posted her latest illustration, entitled Memory, on her blog and it’s probably my favorite so far. That tire swing and spooky looking house are perfect and I love the lines in the hair.

Recent graduate Valerie Jar has a great portfolio taking shape. I love the colors used in her illustrations and handmade items, and her graphic design is very clean and professional. You can buy those owl pillows and more of her work at her Etsy shop.

I found these typographic designs by Watafak (click on “trabajos” to get to the works) to be very nice. The added texture actually works very well to give the design character without losing it’s sophistication. The color is also well executed. The fact that they are all in Spanish really gets me to look at [...]

Sam Peet has a great collage illustration style going with this book entitled I had the strangest dream. The layering and texture make for a very surreal little environment. It’s sad that his portfolio is so small right now, hopefully he’ll add more soon.

I loved the simple yet unique design for a vector illustrator and designer’s portfolio website called “Aint Life Grand”. All you have to do click on the current image to get to the next one. You see one image at a time and it seems to suit the bare bones, yet witty and eye-catching illustration [...]
This calendar booklet contains a lovely flip book animation of a tree losing its leaves. It’s a nice and simple vector illustration and the type work on the cover is beautiful as well. It was designed by Tomato Kosir, who has a lot more fantastic design work in his portfolio.
