I really love the colors and type in this old cookbook page scanned in by Pete Ryan.
Designer Kent Henderson had insomnia one night and decided to scan in this wonderful book entitled Examples of Modern Alphabets, Ornamental and Plain from 1864! This is a really fun gallery to click through for anyone interested in vintage woodblock typography or even book design. The amount of detail in the letters is amazing, end [...]
Sam Peet has a great collage illustration style going with this book entitled I had the strangest dream. The layering and texture make for a very surreal little environment. It’s sad that his portfolio is so small right now, hopefully he’ll add more soon.
The stlye of this book, called Film Design, is incredible. I love the great use of the grid system and the black and white color scheme. I found it in insect54′s Flickr account which contains a wealth of great images of graphic design books and posters.

I bought one as soon as I heard about it. It looks like a fun book for type nerds and people [...]

It turns out that although the story is boring and borderline propagandistic, the illustration style was amazing. I ended up [...]
This vintage mime alphabet book looks awesome, I wish the whole thing was scanned in. It comes from an pretty sweet flickr set of vintage children’s books.
Here’s a great Flickr set of 121 pages of logos from the 1970′s scanned from the book “World of Logotypes”. Solid black on plain white, that’s the way to do it. None of those fancy gradients and reflection cop-outs that you see everywhere these days. Just pure balance, harmony, and simplicity. via Metafilter
